Gov. Blagojevich is a Weiner
If you haven’t heard, Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff, John Harris, were arrested Tuesday by FBI agents for what U.S. Atty. Patrick Fitzgerald called a “staggering” level of corruption involving pay-to-play politics in Illinois’ top office.
Apparently he decided, that with his power to nominate a representative to the US Senate with Sen. Obama moving to Pennsylvania Ave, he would sell the seat to the highest bidder. What a fucking moron.
“I’ve got this thing and it’s fucking golden,” prosecutors quoted Blagojevich as saying about the Senate appointment on federal bugs in his campaign office and wiretaps on his home telephone, “and I’m just not giving it up for fucking nothing. I’m not gonna do it.”
A 76-page FBI affidavit alleges that Blagojevich discussed on court wiretaps: A substantial salary for himself at a either a non-profit foundation or an organization affiliated with labor unions, placing his wife on corporate boards where he speculated she might garner as much as $150,000 a year, and promises of campaign funds – including cash up front.
What a greedy jerkoff. I hope we purge this culture from our elected officials and put some people of honor and civic responsibility in the elected offices.
In a recorded conversation on Oct. 31, Blagojevich claimed he was approached by an associate of Senate Candidate 5 as follows: “We were approached to ‘pay to play.’ That, you know, he’d raise 500 grand. An emissary came. Then the other guy would raise a million, if I made him (Senate Candidate 5) a Senator.”
Barack Obama’s campaign recommended Senator Candidate 1, rumored to be Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett. Blajovevick is recorded as saying, “Unless I get something real good for [Senate Candidate 1], shit, I’ll just send myself, you know what I’m saying? I’m going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain.”
Obama’s unwillingness to trade favors enraged Blagojevich.
“Blagojevich said he knows that the president-elect wants Senate Candidate 1 for the Senate seat but ‘they’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation. Fuck them,’” states the report.
Oh how the right wished they could pawn this off on Obama, but he is way too smart for that. Thankfully Obama held strong while this asshole ruined his career. Hell, aren’t these people smarter than this?!?
